we turn 2! (on may 26th!)

shot our first 'destination' wedding in tahoe this past weekend, & we're vacationing/celebrating in tahoe & vegas. can't believe it's been 2 years already - it's flown by, & i know we both feel super blessed to be where we are. i'm so happy to be married to my best friend

you can see some tahoe pics & a longer anniversary post here: http://blog.micahgilmore.com/

all pictures in this post are from the fabulous trever hoehne or travis hoehne (from our wedding day)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRISTIE!!!!

Happy Birthday Christie Leung Yamada Gilmore!!!!
(yes this is a day late, but i'm hoping to redeem myself with my package that i am quite sure arrived on time)

(sadly i don't really have any recent pictures of us TOGETHER. Christie is a good friend. Each time i go home, we have a tradition where we go out for starbucks the morning before i leave... at, like, 6 am!)

I've decided to break my xanga silence and join back into the bogging foray with a post for Christie!

(Micah Bears is also my new bff! He and Christie take me out for treats too)

Although we are no longer roomies, per se, i feel like this year God has really grown us closer in a bunch of cool and neat ways. It's weird to think that my first 3 years in Japan, we didn't get to talk as much, but this time around, we video skype about once a week- something i definitely need to survive this time around! In case you didn't know, I used to be an English teacher in Hyogo prefecture- near both Kobe and Osaka. I decided I was done with JET, and was planning on going home when i heard about this job opportunity. I started feeling really excited about it, interviewed, and then got the job! I'm working at a Christian publishing company in Saitama, about an hour outside of Tokyo. It's pretty neat to be a part of the whole process of printing, binding, and sending Bibles out. It has definitely been a challenge in a ton of ways, hence the SUPER thankfulness to my former roomie!

(right before heading out to Mexical sometime during college)

One thing that I love about our friendship is that it has really grown with us over time. We aren't the same girls we were when we first met in jr. high. We aren't the same girls we were when we were friends in high school. And we've also grown since the time we were roommates in college (which was 4 years ago!!! Where does the time go?). I know some friends sometimes grow apart as they grow and mature, but despite being in different countries, TOTALLY different time zones, and totally different stages in life (she is married, i am not!), it's amazing to me that we are still close. I'm so thankful that God has blessed me with Christie and her friendship - i seriously don't know what i'd do without her!

(a picture of Mel, Christie, Kris, and I what feels like a LOOOONG time ago)

And while i'm unsure of who reads our xanga, i hope that YOU, reader, also have forever friends who you can worship with, talk with, fellowship with, cry with, laugh with... you get the idea. They definitely come out of the grace of God!

(whether or not you have friends, the WXYZ pose, as show here by Thomas, Vanessa, myself, and Christie, is always a good thing to do in pictures.)
Happy Birthday Christie!

Victor+Kelly - yes, another post...

the full entry is over here: http://blog.micahgilmore.com/
(or here if you subscribe by xanga: http://micahs22action.xanga.com/weblog

and yes, there are a couple of DIFFERENT pictures here - for the lucky chrisgumi readers only! haha - or...just megumi & licoreen. & dean. i don't know that anyone else reads this blog.

this next picture is one that i loved, and wanted to give it a more vintage-y feel. again, love how photos look in black & white too!

micah caught two like this (the other version is on the photo blog) - i couldn't decide which one was more my favorite, so i put one there, and one here:

a more artsy shot i took - trying to stretch myself & do new things each shoot...

really one of my favorites from the day. i might have composed it differently if i had posed this one, but it was a split second moment (aka unposed) so i'm just glad i had my camera up! as much as i am sarcastic & often cynical, i really am a romantic. i don't think i'm as hopelessly romantic as i used to be, but i'm a total romantic - i still don't know how that works with my high level of sarcastic-ness.

thanks for reading friends!

It's Never Been Like That

i wrote something...

...over on the other blog

it's all about this stuff (late, i know, but i'm working on catching up on writing!) see the full post on the Micah Gilmore Photography Blog!

and a couple that are only posted on chrisgumi - i like moody photos sometimes. i love the play of shadows and how much emotion you can gather even when an image has less light (or when you can't see their faces!) i think these two shots are significant too - the first dance with his new wife, and a special dance with his mom (who really loves him & his new wife!)

and as you can see, i've been playing a lot with storyboards...teaching myself how to make them and use them. (Dean if you read this, am i making progress??) love this one of some details and their awesome cake:
